Free online IFC viewer

View and understand your IFC models — no software required

Upload any .ifc file and inspect the 3D model in the browser. The Nomic agent indexes the full model and solves real tasks — quantity takeoffs, room schedules, coordination checks, data validation — on demand.

Three steps. Zero software.

Drop in an IFC, inspect the model, and let the agent do the work.

Step 1

Upload any IFC file

Drop a .ifc or .ifczip file into Nomic and the agent indexes the full model automatically — elements, properties, levels, spaces, materials, and relationships. Supports IFC2x3, IFC4, and IFC4x3.

Step 2

Inspect in 3D — no plugin

Orbit, pan, and zoom the model in the browser. Click any element to see its properties, level, and relationships. No Revit, no Navisworks, no browser plugin required.

Step 3

Agent solves tasks on your model

Assign the Nomic agent a task and it runs SQL over the extracted model tables to return real answers — counts, areas, quantities, schedules, property checks — grounded in model data, not summaries.

What the Nomic agent can solve in your model

The agent runs SQL over the extracted model tables to answer questions with real model data — not AI-generated summaries.

  • Run a quantity takeoff by category and level
  • Check for missing fire ratings on doors
  • Generate a room schedule for any floor
  • Find MEP elements that intersect structural zones
  • List all materials with their volumes
  • Validate COBie fields before handover
  • Compare model data against spec documents
  • Identify spaces not assigned to any fire zone

Why Nomic answers are verifiable

SQL over real model data — not summaries

When an IFC is uploaded, Nomic extracts every entity into structured database tables. The agent writes and runs SQL queries against those tables — so every count, area, and property value comes from the actual model, not an AI guess.

Frequently asked questions

What IFC file formats does Nomic support?

Nomic supports .ifc and .ifczip files in IFC2x3, IFC4, and IFC4x3 schema versions — including infrastructure and alignment entities. Drop the file in and it indexes automatically.

Do I need Revit or any other BIM software?

No. Nomic runs entirely in the browser. Anyone with a link to the project space can view the 3D model and get agent answers — no Revit license, no Navisworks, no plugin or install required.

How does the agent answer questions about the model?

When an IFC is uploaded, Nomic extracts the full model into structured tables (elements, properties, levels, spaces, materials, relationships). The agent writes SQL over those tables and returns precise answers with real numbers — not AI summaries or guesses.

Can I view a model exported from Revit?

Yes. Export an IFC from Revit (File > Export > IFC) and upload to Nomic. All Revit property sets, quantities, levels, and rooms are extracted and queryable. Native .rvt geometry support is on the roadmap.

Can I use the viewer alongside project specs and drawings?

Yes. BIM models live in the same Nomic project space as specs, drawings, RFIs, and emails. The agent can reason across all of them — for example, checking whether fire ratings in the model match the door schedule PDF.

Is the 3D viewer secure for confidential project models?

Models are stored in your Nomic project space under your organization's access controls. Only users you invite can view or query the model. Contact us for enterprise security and data residency requirements.
