Solibri

Solibri federates IFC and Revit models, runs rule-based checks over them, and tracks the issues those checks raise. It is a Nemetschek Group product and the reference point most firms compare model-checking tools against, largely because its rule library covers geometry, clearance, accessibility, property and information checks rather than clash detection alone.

What changed in April 2026 is how you buy it. Solibri retired its named products and replaced them with four tiers. Starter is visual IFC inspection and issue identification. Essential adds predefined rule-based checking and structured clash detection across federated IFC and native Revit models. Advanced is where custom rules, data validation against IDS, quantity and information takeoff, and the browser-based WebChecker appear. Premium adds point cloud checking, extended IDS management, company rule extensions, and the AI-powered Assistant. Security+ is separate: a fully offline, air-gapped deployment with no telemetry, aimed at defence, government, and critical-infrastructure work.

The AI-powered Assistant arrived in Beta with the June 2026 desktop release and is Premium-only. It is a natural-language assistant inside the desktop environment that navigates checking results, queries components in the open model, and helps set up rules. It is worth being precise about what that is: assistance with operating the checker, not an agent that forms its own view of whether the design is right. The rules still encode the requirement, and a person still decides what a finding means.

If you are evaluating Solibri against document-side checking, the division is clean. Solibri answers whether the model satisfies a ruleset. It does not read the specification, the submittals, or the issued drawing set those rules were derived from. Teams that need both usually run a rule engine on the model and something else on the documents, and the question worth asking early is which of your actual findings come from which side.
