Level of Development Verification
AI verification that BIM elements meet specified Level of Development requirements.
Definition
Level of Development Verification AI checks that BIM model elements contain the information required for their specified LOD. It verifies geometry accuracy, attribute completeness, and documentation for each element to ensure models support intended uses and meet contractual requirements.
In Depth
Level of Development (LOD) specifies how much information and geometric detail BIM model elements should contain at each project phase. LOD 200 during schematic design means approximate geometry and generic types. LOD 350 during construction documents means accurate geometry, specific products, and connection details. AI verifies that model elements meet the LOD specified in the BIM Execution Plan.
The verification checks both geometric accuracy (does the element's shape and dimensions match the expected LOD) and data completeness (does the element have the required parameters filled in at this LOD level). An element at LOD 350 should have specific manufacturer, model number, and connection detail information — not just generic type properties. AI flags elements that claim to be at LOD 350 but lack the required data.
Examples
Verifying LOD 300 elements
Checking attribute completeness
Validating model content
