AEC Magazine has published “AI’s next bottleneck is the engineer’s desk,” Martyn Day’s look at what happens when AI starts producing engineering reviews and a senior engineer still has to sign off on them.
Martyn spoke with Nomic CEO Andriy Mulyar and Freek Matheij, global AI enablement director at Arcadis, about how Arcadis is putting Nomic’s agents to work on drawing review, specs, and submittal review.
Two points from the piece stand out. Martyn writes, “A question about a project may require only a handful of details, but those details can be scattered across thousands of pages.” He concludes that the quality of what reaches the engineer’s desk decides how much time AI saves, so the time to check, correct, and approve a review counts as much as the time to generate it.
